Visa policy Albania

Albania has a couple of years ago changed its visa policy dramatically. Citizens of certain countries can enter Albania without a visa for a maximum of 90 days within a specific 180-day period, starting from the date of first entry. A passport is required. However, a subset of citizens eligible for visa-free travel can enter the country with only their ID cards in lieu of their passports.

Citizens of the countries presented in green in the image below do not require a visa to enter Albania. Citizens from the European Union, Australia, Canada, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, New Zealand, San Marino and United States can enter Albania with only their ID cards. Citizens from the other countries, presented in green need to be in possession of their passport in order to enter the country. Citizens of countries not presented here are required to obtain a visa from an Albanian consulate or embassy before traveling to Albania.

Additionally, all foreigners, regardless of nationality, who are in possession of a valid multiple-entry Schengen visa (type C or D only), or have a valid residence permit in one of the Schengen member states, can enter, stay, and transit through Albania without visa.
